Improvisation rules, games, and scenes. Study of Commedia Dell'Arte--history, culture, and performance of scenes.

Behind the Scenes |
Study of crew positions: director, stage manager, props, set, costumes, makeup, sound, and lights.

Design |
Students design a backdrop and costume for a play, TV show, movie, or video game.

Monologues |
Writing and performing a monologue. Students bring in a photo and a quote based on the photo project Humans of New York. Then, students switch photos and write a monologue based on what they see. Finally, students switch monologues to memorize and perform for an audience.

Scenes |
Students write, rehearse, and perform scenes. Throughout the year, students will perform improvisational scenes based on Commedia, planned scenes in the Film Festival, and scripted scenes of Shakespeare's Midsummer Night's Dream.

TV/Film |
Entrance into the KISD Film Festival! Students plan, produce, and edit a short film.

History |
Students study the Greeks, Commedia Dell'Arte, Cycle Plays, and Shakespeare.

Play Production |
Students produce theatrical scenes from Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream. Students design the set, costumes, props, and must perform in character and from memory.
